Dave Meetings – February

We met with Dave to discuss our roles within the film crew. I decided to go down the more technical route of being in charge of the 633. Joe wanted to improve his boom operation, so this worked out quite well.

We both planned to follow this route for the whole project with Joe doing more of the practical and with me looking at more of the recording aspects.

We talked about tailoring our learning outcomes to follow this theme. I would talk more about using effects, post production and the recording process whereas Joe would go more into the practical. This allowed being more accurate in our tasks.

Media Meetings – January

We decided last year to work with a media production group as it is something neither of us had done before.

I got recommended by a friend to Kelly Hodgekiss who was looking for audio production students to do sound on her group’s film.

We met at the start of this year to make sure everything with the project was ok and on track.

We learned that the group had split in half and that the script had changed.

This was a shame as we had planned for the previous script.

They told us that they were in the process of finalising the details and actors for the film.

Dave Meetings – January

We met with Dave to chat about our project and our role within that. As the media team were using this as their full third-year project a lot of pre-planning was already done.

We talked about our previous meetings with the group and their script idea. We mentioned the planning we had done from our end in regards to creating lists of spot effects and Atmos ideas.

Media Meetings – Last Term

As this project was decided in September, we had met up a few times to talk about different aspects.

Our first meeting with the media group was in September and went quite well. We showed them examples of our previous work and spoke to them about the kind of things they would need.

We spoke about how many characters were in the film and the kinds of locations we would be using.
We created a list of everything we would need and begin looking into how we would achieve all that was required.

Aims and Objectives

Objectives

Maintain a professional attitude while working on set with both actors and crew.

  • To be knowledgeable with equipment in order to help overcome any issues that may arise.
  • To deliver a fully finished audio package to (EBU R128) standard
  • To research and practice different music creation and foley techniques
  • To create all the audio elements

These objectives were given by our client and are ones we feel are good standards for out work to reach.

Aims – Callum

  • To record high-quality dialogue and effects with the 633 on location.
  • To implement and understand different methods of recording foley and post-production effects
  • To recreate an environment in a post production context
  • To seamlessly work with actors and a filming team on both locations and in post.

For my aims, I have gone down a much more technical route. From working the 633 to post production. Whereas joe has gone down a more practical route of foley and boom operating. By utilising both aspects we hope to create a more professional product.
