Callum Kerr – Testimonial

During the filming process, we maintained a professional attitude towards everyone on set.

Callum was the male lead of the film. As the sound crew for the movie, we wanted to cause as few issues with the filming process as possible.

“It was a pleasure working alongside Callum and Joe recently in their film project. Both guys were cheerful and extremely professional. I’d highly recommend either of them to work on a professional set, and wish them the best of luck for the future.” – Callum Kerr

Thoughts on the Final Film

From an audio perspective, i am very pleased with how the film came out.

Mine and Joe’s contributions add a lot to the movie. Creating the radio show, the video and the phone call allowed us to enhance the plot and put our mark on the film.

There are a few sections however we could have improved on. We feel the music could have been more bespoke had we been given more time. Due to not knowing what was happening with the music we didn’t really make any. This would be something, in my opinion, we would change.

During Foley, we would have been more thorough. There are a few sounds watching it back now that we could have added that we just didn’t see during recording or editing.

Some sections of dialogue could be improved. The reverb and atmosphere could have been used better to sit them into the film.

I think the final product came out well and it is work that I am proud of.

Mixing 2

I sat down with the media team to go through the film with them.

They were having problems with lining up our audio to the movie. This was because they were using a different edit. After placing in the edit, they gave us everything lined up perfectly.

Watching through I made notes of what needed to be changed. The biggest problems were with levels. The effects were far too loud, and the music was very overpowering in some scenes.

After looking over these problems again, we turned the master compressor down as we feel this was causing the low-level Foley to be too loud during parts.

We then ran this final mix through insight to check everything and sent it back over to the media team.

Mixing 1

Once all the sections were finished, we brought them all together into one session to begin the final mix.

We started by listening to everything at the same level to get an idea of what needed adjusting. After tweaking the levels, we were both happy with the overall sound.

We used a limiter and a multiband compressor in an effort the bring the level of everything to EBU R128.

After this, we ran the piece through iZotopes Insight plugin to check it.

We then sent the track to the media team for their approval.
